Instabee - the combination of the Swedish-founded last-mile delivery brands, Instabox and Budbee - joins the world-leading service for scientifically based emission targets, the Science Based Targets initiative. With this, the company will further raise the bar for more sustainable transports and scientifically grounded goals.
Having as little negative impact on the planet as possible has been a priority for Instabee and its underlying brands since the beginning. As the climate issue grows in importance, many companies are competing to offer the best alternative, but it is not always easy to know what actions are actually effective. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) supports companies in setting scientifically grounded emission targets. SBTi is backed by, among others, the UN and WWF and is considered the world leader in credible emission targets.
In July, Instabee sent in its commitment letter, thereby committing to set scientifically-based goals for relative and absolute emission reduction across the entire business within 24 months. To be approved, the goals will be reviewed by SBTi’s experts.
I am incredibly proud that we are now ready to take this step. By setting scientifically based and measurable goals, based on frameworks developed by leading experts, we ensure a truly sustainable development and not just a contribution to communicative noise," says Fredrik Hamilton, CEO and co-founder of Instabee.
Instabee is now listed in SBTi's database, and as the goals are set, one will be able to follow the development there.
This is a natural next step in our active work towards a sustainable e-commerce experience. We are now launching a comprehensive business analysis to identify what we can do to keep global warming to 1.5⁰C," says Ann Sonne, communications and sustainability manager at Instabee.
Instabee was founded in 2022 after combining Budbee and Instabox - two leading last-mile delivery companies. Instabee is present in seven countries, with three consumer-facing brands: Budbee, Instabox and Porterbuddy, serving thousands of online merchants, including ASOS, Zalando, Inditex and H&M and is on track to become the most admired European e-commerce enabler. Since the start, Instabee has focused on consumer-centric and sustainable solutions, offering deliveries to boxes and homes using muscle power, electricity, renewable diesel and biofuels. Through bespoke technical solutions, Instabee can guarantee optimal fill rates and routing, minimising any unnecessary transports. Instabee is backed by Kinnevik, Creades and EQT, among others.
